Nikon D3100 14.2MP Digital SLR Camera

We were quite pleased with this camera. It takes outstanding pictures both inside and out, and being so light weight makes it quite portable. Though it is simple and easy to use, it has features that compare with much more expensive cameras. It offers 1080p HD video recording with sound and full-time auto focus, AF subject tracking and automatic scene recognition system which optimizes exposure, autofocus and white balance for you.

Easily capture action shots with a fast start up time, split-second shutter release, 3 frames per second shooting and 11-point autofocus.

  • 14.2-megapixel DX-format CMOS image sensor; 3-inch monitor with One-Touch Live View shooting and movie capture
  • Includes 3x 18-55mm Zoom-NIKKOR VR Image Stabilization lens
  • Full 1080p HD Cinematic Video with full-time autofocus and sound
  • Easy-To-Use Nikon Guide Mode with intuitive controls and on-board assistance
  • Capture images to SD/SDHC/SDXC memory cards (not included)

Review comments:

  • For the cost of this camera, I don’t think you can get anything better. The low light performance is off the charts. As a wedding photographer I regularly shoot with Nikon’s high end professional equipment and I was amazed how close this camera is to a pro camera.
  • This is a very light weight high end consumer camera, which the whole family can use with very little training, and at the same time can be used with lenses.
  • The Camera performs exactly as advertised taking fantastic pictures and a full 1080 video. The sound works well, but be advised, if you are using the auto-zoom when in camera mode, you will hear the servo motors focusing the lenses. The microphone is that sensitive. I would buy again.
  • I love this camera. You will not be able to find a camera better for such money.
  • I’ve been looking to dig into DSLR photography as a hobby. I’ve previously used two different Olympus point and shoots. I researched for several weeks, looking seriously at the Canon T2i and the Nikon D3100. For the money, the D3100 can’t be beat. What sold me was the guide mode. It teaches you how to set up the camera for fantastic shots. I have learned more using that mode in one week than from the weeks I’ve spent reading books and websites. For the money I saved on the camera, I was able to purchase a telephoto lens to go with it. Worth every penny. I look forward to many years of great photos.
